| Project
at a Glance: |
|
|
• developed a complete templated business web site solution for literacykamloops.com
• co-ordinated web site launch with fundraising campaign
• achieved the client's goals to make a website functional for donors, volunteers
and students.
|
Client:
The Kamloops Literacy Council experienced
a drastic reduction in its funding due to government
cutbacks. The Director was faced with a need to raise
donations through new channels such as online donations.
Template
Solution:
Stir Communications created a business web site template into which
Kamloops Literacy staff can place their unique content.
Critical
Issue:
The Director wanted the website to function
for three audiences: potential tutor volunteers, potential
students and potential donors.
There is so much shame
and secrecy that surrounds being unable to read that
she wanted the web site to bring hope and confidence that
success is possible.
Project
Requirements:
- the
web site design had to be accessible to those who
can't read.
The telephone icon was placed at
the top of every page to enable a phone call for those unable to read the text on the website.
- The word "FREE" was clear and bold encouraging
the Learner to phone, recognizing there would be
no cost to enter the program.
- the
web site needed to have clear "action points": phone,
donate online, volunteer
- the
web site needed to break stereotypes of who becomes
a literacy student.
Solution:
The template design allowed for 8 pages of content,
which was sufficient for this informational web site.
The text was provided by Kamloops Literacy Council to
Stir Communications in Microsoft Word documents and uploaded
into the specific pages.
Services:
- non-profit business web site template
design
- stock
photography chosen for client
- client
content placed into template
- online
communications consulting
Results:
"Wow, you must have stayed
up all night. Thank you. I have looked at the site and
it is clean, clear and easy to read which were our goals."
Cheryl
McLean, Kamloops Laubach Literacy Council
